Bach Cantata #51(“Jauchzet Gott in alles Landen”)

Bach Feast in the Great Hall

Immediately after the concert on Sunday, June 7, 2009 the Bach Concert Series will celebrate the end of its 20th season with a grand, gourmet dinner, a Bach Feast. Members of the choir are planning to prepare some of their favorite gourmet dishes for a delicious meal. Here is a sample of some of the delightful dishes being planned for you (subject, of course, to the chef's last minute modulations):

  • Leipziger Lerche (Leipzig Lark) - a very traditional dessert from Leipzig, with an entertaining (if gruesome) history

  • Jeanne's Peerless Lasagna

  • Homemade Cherry Pie - rumored to be Bach's favorite

  • Linda's Famous Tuna - beloved by the Bach Concert Choir [The Maestro prefers to call it .in-tune-a.]

  • Amy's Bread Basket - assorted breads, each one homemade

  • Ginette's Fabulous French Apple Pie - guaranteed authentic

  • Hungarian Paprika Chicken - a.k.a. "Paprika Handel"

  • Tortellini salad

  • Baroque Pie - may be baroque but doesn't need fixin'

  • Suite Fruit Salad - a.k.a. "Sweet" Fruit Salad

  • Beef Rouladen - from the Burlington Northern Railroad's dining car glory days (but tastes very Bavarian)

  • Janet's Middle Eastern fruit and nut compote

  • Leipziger Allerlei - a traditional veggie dish from Bach's fair city

  • Janet's Unbelievable Chocolate Cheese Cake - yum

  • Phil's Vanilla Cheese Cake - believable but sinful

  • Bachalie Salad - a.k.a. "Broccoli" salad

  • Marylynn's Mouth-watering Chocolate Bark Candy - we don't even know if they had chocolate in Bach's time but we're sure he would have liked it

  • Seasoned Mushroom Caps and Mushrooms Stuffed w/Crab Imperial

Come and enjoy a grand feast. Seating is limited to just 110 people. Wine and soda will also be available for sale at the dinner.
